Green Party women call for Chis Were resignation

'Chris Were's'  'apology' shows no understanding of his misogyny or genuine apology. The link to Chris Weres own blog (2)  where he posts his reply to , Sarah Cope gives the impression that green party women are happy with this patronising arrogant reply.

As I have pointed out many times the culture of the ruling group in Wales is misogynist and put in a detailed complaint to the regional council that wasn't addressed prior to my convenient expulsion.

Chris Were is confident the few women activists in Wales will agree with him i.e. Pippa Bartolotti who has no real understanding of feminism and his mother Ann Were WGPC general secretary. However there is another woman quite new to WGRC and who is on regional council but didn't attend their last meeting who was also horrified at the posts of Chris Were.

However the issue is not just his postings but the appalling views as expressed on his daily videos that he boasts the largest group of fans are 13 - 17 girls. These video titles include
Sluts & Studs: The Double Standard by @ChristopherWere   ...."cos women can get sex easier than men" "men have higher sex drive than women"

Women's representation
"when it comes to gov its a bit  different than when you're hiring for a company When you are hiring for a company you want the best person for the job when you are looking at government you need someone who is representative there are 2 different things there so ..it would make sense that gov would be about 50% women . because that would be representative Now obviously when you are voting for your mp... competence is a big factor in that as well but so is representation as well so there is perhaps  more of a case for taking more women in to account in terms of government and politics as well " from  A Look Back on Women's Week in Project 13

Dear Christopher, Sarah Cope here, Chair of Green Party Women. I hope you are well. I am just contacting you about the fall-out from the very offensive postings here on your blog. I have received emails from women asking that our sub-group call for your resignation. I do agree with emails that your apology seemed quite petulantly worded. A further, more genuine, less defensive apology would be well advised. Perhaps we could discuss this? Thanks, Sarah

I am genuinely sorry for the posts that appear on my personal blog, it was a lapse of judgement at the time and a mistake. One of the great things about making mistakes is that it gives us all a chance to learn and expand our views and perspectives and become better people. This whole incident has taught me many lessons.
However there’s some context to this incident which I would like to explain first. To put the posts in perspective they are ‘reblogged’ posts. The words used were not my own, but words I decided to allow to appear on my blog. I didn’t choose the words in the puts, nor would I have, however it was still my decision to allow them on my site, and I take full responsibility for that. Also, the apology in the newspaper article was cut down. I feel that also merits noting.
As for my perspective, I’ve personally had no calls from any party members to resign, if anyone would like to address their complaints to me privately I’m happy to receive them at blog@christopherwere.com.
I think Green Party Women is a fantastic group that addresses some of the most important issues facing millions of people in Britain. You fight for equality and respect which is not only good but essential in today’s political climate. And let’s face it, the Green Party would be in a lesser place if it wasn’t for victories of strong women like Pippa Bartolotti and Natalie Bennett.
In closing I’d like to say that as Deputy Leader of Wales Green Party my responsibility is to the members of Wales Green Party. I encourage you to speak with the female members of Wales Green Party Council about my conduct before making any calls for my resignation.

A full apology statement has been released which you can see on the very same blog at:http://christopherwere.com/post/52145915934/dear-christopher-sarah-cope-here-chair-of-green-party
It seems to me personally that because the posts on the blog were removed shortly after they were initially re-posted, most people are aware of these posts only through second hand information, if you combine that with the nature of how Tumblr blogs work, getting a good context of the situation isn’t exactly easy if you’re not 100% clued up on social media and how it works.
That being said, offensive material still was visible on my blog and for that I can only apologise. I should have made more of an effort to vet the content that went up.
Thanks for the question
